An Abbey for Canton

Abbeys have a long and rich tradition dating back more than a thousand years. An abbey is a collection of buildings that serves two important purposes: A space for community formation, and a center of entrepreneurial work.

With the fundamental belief that all of life is sacred, abbeys were once known as places of radical hospitality, spiritual renewal, and cultural innovation.

Rooted in this tradition, The Canton Abbey exists to embody and advance these same things—not through a set of buildings, but through a network of relationships and an ecosystem of blessing

About

Easter In The Streets

Like thousands of other cities across the country and the world, Canton is experiencing a moment of significant disruption, fear, and uncertainty in the midst of the spread of the coronavirus.

At all times, but especially right now, it’s vital that we turn our attention to expressions of faith, hope, and love as sources of light in our city. For light always overpowers and drives away darkness.

We mean for these conversations to be a source of encouragement, but also that they instigate still more expressions of faith, hope, and love throughout our community, among our neighborhoods, and in our homes!

Light In Our City

Like thousands of other cities across the country and the world, Canton is experiencing a moment of significant disruption, fear, and uncertainty in the midst of the spread of the coronavirus.

At all times, but especially right now, it’s vital that we turn our attention to expressions of faith, hope, and love as sources of light in our city. For light always overpowers and drives away darkness.

Through the month of May, we’ll be sitting down with a variety of Canton’s civic, business, organizational, and spiritual leaders to have brief conversations around three questions:

  • In the midst of our present COVID-19 crisis, who and what inspires faith in you?

  • As you look to the future, what is your hope for our city? What would you hope the newspaper headlines would be?

  • As you look around in your organization and in our city, how are you seeing love expressed?

We mean for these conversations to be a source of encouragement, but also that they instigate still more expressions of faith, hope, and love throughout our community, among our neighborhoods, and in our homes!

About

Christmas In The Streets

From He is Risen

This past April, as we were just coming to grips with the broad implications of COVID-19, we got creative and took Easter to the streets of Canton.

100 cars, representing over 30 church communities, came together to create a caravan of worship and prayer around the 4 quadrants of Canton.

…to He is Coming!

We now find ourselves in the season of Advent, a time in which we remember God’s faithfulness in coming to dwell among us, but also a time of looking ahead to when God will come again to bring the fullness of his kingdom!

Truly, we are walking through a particularly difficult and dark time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yet in celebrating the coming of Jesus Christ together, we acknowledge an even deeper truth - that the hope, peace, joy, and love of God are unshaken and available to us without limit!

About

Stark CCDA

Together, we’re pursuing holistically flourishing communities throughout Stark County with the Body of Christ fully engaged in the process of transformation.

Stark CCDA was founded by the collaborative efforts of First Church of the Resurrection, First Mennonite, Radial Church, and Lighthouse Ministries.

To begin this work, these groups submitted and were awarded a planning grant from the Stark Community Foundation (The Polly Hoover Connelly and Lawrence E. Connelly, Jr. Fund & The William K. and Lotte E. Wilson Philanthropic Fund) in the summer of 2021.
